Ahead of state polls, Haryana CM announces LPG cylinders at Rs 500, milk to every govt school student between 14 and 18 for 150 days | Chandigarh News

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday announced that people earning less than Rs 1.8 lakh per annum and registered under the Ujjwala Yojana will now get LPG cylinders at just Rs 500 in the state.

The decision, which comes barely a few months before the state is scheduled to go to polls, is expected to affect nearly 46 lakh families in Haryana.

As per the guidelines of the Ujjwala Yojana, a beneficiary must be 18 years or above and there should not be any other LPG connection in the same household.

Adult women belonging to any of the following categories – SC, ST, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin), Most Backward Classes (MBC), Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY), Tea and Ex- Tea Garden tribes, Forest Dwellers, People residing in Islands and River Islands, enlisted under SECC Households (AHL TIN) or any Poor Household as per 14-point declaration, are eligible to avail the benefits of the scheme.

In another announcement, Saini said, “Under the Mukhyamantri Dugdh Uphar Yojana, from now, government school students of 14 to 18 years of age will be getting fortified milk for 150 days each year.”

“Also, from now on, under the Haryana Matri Shakti Udyam Yojana, an applicant can avail a loan of up to Rs 5 lakh,” Saini said, adding, “The women’s revolving fund of the self-help groups have been increased from Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000.”
