Uttarakhand panel on Uniform Civil Code: From former SC judge to former chief secretary, Doon VC to activist

Justice Desai is currently also the chairman of the Lokpal and the chairman of the search committee constituted to recommend the panel for consideration of the members.

Justice Parmod Kohli

A graduate of GGM Science College in Jammu, Pramod Kohli earned a law degree from the University of Jammu in 1972. He was later appointed as the Additional Advocate General of Jammu and Kashmir during the Governor’s Rule in 1990. Thereafter, he became the Advocate General of Jammu and Kashmir.

He handled cases on various legal branches of constitutional, civil, taxation and law and became legal advisor to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University.

Later, Justice Kohli was appointed as an additional judge of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court. In 2006, he was transferred to the Jharkhand High Court. He was also transferred to the Punjab and Haryana High Court. He was later elevated to the rank of Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court in 2011, and he retired in 2013.

Manu Gauri

surekha dangwal

Surekha Dangwal is currently the Vice Chancellor of Doon University in Dehradun. He has previously served as the Head of the Department of English, Modern European and Other Foreign Languages ​​at Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University in Uttarakhand.
