Terming the UP Police directives to eateries along the route of the Kanwar Yatra to display the names of the owners as unconstitutional and undemocratic, Congress MP Dharamvira Gandhi hit out at the BJP and alleged the party wants to achieve its political objectives by enforcing “divisionary agenda”.

Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Gandhi said: “This is a divisionary step. It will create a new tension in the area where people are living peacefully. This is unconstitutional and undemocratic.”

He said SSP of Haridwar in Uttarakhand had issued a similar directive . “I think this is a divisionary agenda and by implementing it, the BJP wants to achieve its political objectives. This is an attempt to divide the society. I request the government to stop it.”

He said that these orders should be withdrawn to maintain mutual and communal harmony and to protect the unity and integrity of the country.
