The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) appointed Sandeep Shikre & Associates as the Architectural and Project Management Consultant for the proposed slum rehabilitation scheme at Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar in Ghatkopar.
The redevelopment project spans approximately 33.15 hectares and aims to rehabilitate 17,000 slum dwellers, with a total project cost of Rs 306 crore. The project will pave the way for the expansion of the Eastern Freeway from Cheddha Nagar in Ghatkopar upto Thane.
In addition to this, MMRDA has selected the joint venture of Rithwik and Soma for the development of depot land and construction of depot infrastructure at Dongri Village near Bhayander for Metro Line 9(Dahisar -Mira Bhayander).
Furthermore, the authority has appointed the NACPL- MANSI – UCC consortium for the comprehensive design, supply, fabrication, and erection of pre-engineered building structural steel works for Metro Line 5. This includes entry and exit structures, as well as the execution of internal and external architectural finishings, plumbing works, and interior fit-outs for six elevated stations on Metro Line 5(Thane – Bhiwandi – Kalyan).
These stations—Balkum, Kasheli, Kalher, Puma, Anjurphata, and Dhamankar Naka—form part of Phase I of this metro corridor, which stretches approximately 11.8 km.
